Koolasuchus was a temnospondyl amphibian. The temnospondyls were thought to have died out at least a hundred million years earlier in the Triassic. Koolasuchus was a ΓÇ£living fossilΓÇ¥ in the Cretaceous, which somehow lived on in the extreme environment of the Antarctic regions of the southern hemisphere after all its relatives had died out.
